Freedom, family, and camping holidays on the coast… What could be better?

With a passion for travel and a talent for customer service, John and Sarah from Cornwall have turned their family motorhome into a profitable side business.

John and Sarah, along with their young family, are passionate campers and outdoors enthusiasts, with a love for the seaside and oceanfront holidays. After purchasing their Auto Roller 600 RV a few years ago, overnight trips around their local Cornwall beaches quickly became multi-day trips to explore the south of France. “The space a motorhome has, offers limitless possibilities”, says John.

And what a space it is. Sarah and John’s RV “TheSea” is the perfect vehicle to escape with for a family getaway. Originally designed to sleep six people, Sarah and John have renovated the van to make it a perfect fit for them. It now sleeps two adults and three children, or four adults, with the extra space making van life just that bit more comfortable - while still providing six seatbelts, just in case you need them. According to Camplify reviews, TheSea’s beds are very comfortable, and don’t require folding away, which makes early morning camp pack-ups a breeze. TheSea features a hob, oven, fridge and freezer, as well as a bathroom with both a toilet and a shower – a real camping luxury that hirers are sure to be glad of.

For John and Sarah, listing TheSea on Camplify was an easy decision. Just back from their own family holiday adventure, it seemed a pity to let their RV sit in storage when there were plenty of other families who would happily take it for an adventure in its downtime. Not only is it earning extra money for John and Sarah, it’s spreading their love of travel and the ocean to other families, whether they just need an affordable getaway or they’re on the fence about purchasing their own RV. Hiring through Camplify is the ideal way to try before you buy, and at least three of John and Sarah’s hirers have hired their RV with this in mind.

John and Sarah listed TheSea on Camplify in August of 2018, and in the last ten months have taken up thirteen bookings, with no sign of business slowing in terms of requests. In fact, Camplify has proved to be a profitable side business for them, having made £5,000 in additional rental income in that time. Being able to set their own pickup and drop-off times means that hiring out TheSea never interferes with their work or family life. While John takes care of the paperwork side of things, Sarah focuses on meeting and greeting the guests. “The process is made so easy by Camplify who take care of the deposit, insurance and driver checks. It allows us to focus on making sure our motorhome is perfect for each and every hirer”, says John.

TheSea is available for a seven-day hire period, with shorter three-day bookings available in low season. But with so much to explore in the Cornwall region, any less than seven days might mean missing out on the wealth of local activities and attractions available. With 300 beaches in Cornwall, it is the ideal spot for a beach road trip. TheSea is the perfect vehicle for a surfing holiday, with plenty of room available for surf and body boards, and room to store wetsuits inside. Being a full-sized RV, it also offers all the modern conveniences like the full kitchen and excellent heating, which is exactly what you need when coming in from a day in the surf.

TheSea also makes it easy to explore the countryside by bicycle. The local Camel Trail is a picturesque ride along a disused railway track between Wenfordbridge and Padstow. While the area’s roads may be a windy climb in an RV, they offer plenty of places to pull over and take advantage of TheSea’s bike rack. Cornwall is home to an array of delicious foods, including the classic Cornwall ice cream cone and servings of Rick Stein’s famous hot chips. The best part for hirers is that John and Sarah’s wealth of local knowledge comes complimentary with their booking. “Cornwall is such a fantastic place with lots to see and do, a little bit of local knowledge goes a long way, and we love meeting all of our hirers and advise them on the best places to see and what to avoid.” As long-time locals and passionate enthusiasts of the Cornwall beaches, John and Sarah are only too happy to help you plan your getaway. They can tell you best places to cycle, swim, camp and eat in the local area, and are more than happy to touch base with you throughout your booking to make sure everything is going swimmingly and answer any questions you may have.

TheSea also lives in a convenient, central location, close to Cornwall Airport Newquay, and airport pickups are available on request. The local train station is just a short three-minute drive away, and John and Sarah are happy to pick you up there too. Alternatively, for those who wish to drive their own vehicle to pick up TheSea, John and Sarah offer secure parking in their gated driveway for the duration of your hire. Not to mention the complimentary cream tea available to every guest at every Sea pick up. John and Sarah provide complimentary tea, coffee, scones, jam and cream to every guest, which makes for a lovely way to begin your beach holiday adventure.

Reading TheSea’s wealth of five-star reviews on Camplify leaves you with no doubt that, as John describes, families leave for their trips “beaming.”. Popular with families with children due to its ample space and easy setup, kids usually race for TheSea’s top bunks with the kind of exuberance usually reserved for Disneyland. Reviews consistently mention the warm, clean feel of the RV, John’s willingness to help and his extensive local knowledge, and the comfortable beds and toasty warm heating system. Think of TheSea as a luxury family holiday home, with the bonus of being mobile, on wheels and easy to drive. Linen, an awning, and the bike rack are all included in the hire price.

With an array of features and conveniences on board, it’s important to John and Sarah that their hirers feel completely comfortable using TheSea, to ensure they get the most out of the experience. “We give access to an online guide the moment the booking is confirmed, show them how to use everything during the handover process, and provide a copy of the paper-based manual. All this makes sure they can get on with the important business of enjoying themselves and not worrying about how to use the motorhome.” Speaking with John, it’s easy to see why TheSea leaves a wake of satisfied customers and five-star reviews.

While the extra income is nice, Camplify owners like John and Sarah find the extra benefits of sharing your vehicle and your local knowledge with fellow travellers just as rewarding. “We enjoy working with Camplify, meeting excited hirers - especially small children, who can’t stop smiling the moment they see the top double bed.”.

Thousands of van owners across the UK have discovered they can have their ideal holiday RV and make money off it too, by listing their van with Camplify.
