If you are looking for a genuine classic Campervan experience, look no further. Built in 1973, Maeve is a Type-2 Bay Window VW Campervan that has recently had a new engine fitted. Sure, she’s got some signs of age but she is a huge amount of fun and always up for an adventure. With pop-top, double ‘rock and roll’ bed, gas hob, fridge, sink and heater, she has everything you need for your trip. You can also hook her up to mains electric (on campsites etc) to make use of her 240v electrics (so you can plug your laptop / hairdryer in etc).

Additional information

In 2023, Maeve was given a new 1.6L engine and - with a 4-speed gearbox - will comfortably cruise at 50mph giving you a range of 250 miles per tank. Pick-up and delivery are available - costs vary on distance/time.

Hiring rules

INSURANCE: Insurance is included in the cost of hire but hirers must meet the following requirements:
Aged between 23 75
Minimum 3 years licence experience
Holds a full UK, EU, US, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand divers licence
No previous driving convictions
MILEAGE: 30 Miles per day included in the hire
ADDITIONAL MILES: Additional miles are charged at £0.45
CLEANING: Cleaning cost will be waived if you prefer to clean it yourself before returning
GAS: Return the gas FULL (you can refill it from petrol stations) and send receipt as proof
FUEL: Premium Unleaded only. Return the van with the same amount as fuel as you collected it with
DRIVING LIMITS: No offroad. No overseas travel (not covered by the insurance)
PETS: Pets only allowed for longer stay and only with consent
FESTIVALS: Some will be considered, depending on terrain
No Smoking inside

Bond

The owner of this listing provides their own hiring insurance. The accident excess for this van is £500.00 per damage event and is managed by Camplify. The owner may carry out their own additional driving licence and security checks.

Cancellations

Moderate

Cancel up to 30 days before the start of the booking and receive a full refund less the cancellation processing fee.
Cancel between 30 and 10 days before the start of booking and receive 90% credit.
Cancellations less than 10 days before start of booking will not be eligible for any credit or refund.

Had the best trip away in Maeve never driven a camper before but it was fantastic. As long as youre not in a rush its great fun. Giless communication was spot on and although I didnt need it he was ready to help in any circumstances. We found Maeve very comfortable to sleep in. All in all a wonderful experience and would definitely book again. Thanks Giles and Maeve.
