Meet Amanda: How One Festival-Loving Owner Turned Her Campervan Into a Community-Driven Side Hustle

For Amanda Cook, becoming a Camplify owner wasn’t about chasing profit — it was about keeping her beloved campervan on the road and sharing the joy of van life with others.

“I originally started hiring out my camper to keep it running and share it with people who might not otherwise get the chance,” Amanda explains. “It’s a way to give the van a purpose when I’m not using it myself.”

Based on the Isle of Wight, Amanda is one of Camplify’s newer owners, having joined the platform just a few months ago. But in that short time, she’s already made a big impression — both on her hirers and within the growing Camplify owner community.

One of Amanda’s proudest moments? Attending the Isle of Wight Festival in her own van — a trip that reminded her exactly why she wanted to help others enjoy similar experiences. “That trip was a highlight,” she says. “I want other people to be able to experience the freedom and fun that comes with having your own little home on wheels.” Alph from Norwich1 2.jpg 347.62 KB

Since joining Camplify, Amanda has welcomed multiple guests aboard her campervan, earning consistent five-star feedback along the way. She keeps things simple but thoughtful — a spotless, fresh interior, reliable communication, and an overall great experience for every hirer.

“I’m still getting into the swing of things,” Amanda says, “but I’ve had around 20 bookings so far and it’s become a regular part of my lifestyle.”

While the additional income has helped her take a few holidays of her own and keep her van in top condition, the biggest benefit Amanda mentions is something less tangible: community. From connecting with guests to being part of a growing movement of like-minded van owners, Amanda says hiring her van out has brought her closer to people who share her love of the open road.

She’s even had an influencer stay in her van, which led to some fantastic video content now featured on her Instagram. “I’ve got some great videos from that stay — it was brilliant to see my van featured and enjoyed by someone with a big audience.”

Amanda’s story is a perfect example of how sharing your camper doesn’t just help fund your next adventure — it also opens the door to new connections, new experiences, and a little more freedom for everyone involved.
