Additional information
Time for bed sleepy head - The fixed bed is a 'ready anytime bed' which can also be used for relaxing on throughout the day. The fixed bed can be used in 2 sizes, either as a small double at 170cm x 122cm or with the pull-out extension it becomes almost kingsize at 170cm x 185cm. In addition to this, the single berth is adapted from the fixed seating and oak table and is 177cm x 57cm. There’s also the option to sleep in Bramble’s hammock that can be slung from front to back using the internal hooks ideally when the fixed bed is in its small-sized position. Sit down next to me - Three belted seats with headrests in the front cabin including the driver. Two bench seats in the living area of the van convert into a bigger bench for three. Let’s talk electrics - Bramble has; 2 solar panels, 2 x 12v lithium batteries, Orion TR Smart DC/DC charger, 3 x USB charger, 2 x 3 pin plug sockets. The 2 lithium batteries are the main power source. These are charged in three ways - when the van is in motion, via the solar panels or when hooked up to mains electricity. The power from the lithium batteries supplies the cabin lights, fridge/freezer, sink pump, USB charge points, and 2 of the 3 pin plugs. NOTE - 3 pin plugs are for light use only eg phone charger. Bramble can also be hooked up to electric hook up at campsites however due to the electric set up, Bramble is rip and ready for off-grid van life. All about the area - Bramble is based in the old market town of Kendal in Cumbria, home to Alfred Wainwright, Kendal Mint Cake and of course the annual Kendal Mountain Festival (a must for outdoor enthusiasts world over). Kendal is The Gateway to the Lake District with great train links on the mainline to Oxenholme Station (possible pick-up point if required). The Lake District was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017 and is now part of a special family of iconic places across the planet, like the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, the Grand Canyon and many other world famous locations. The Lake District is a self-contained mountainous area of some 2,292 square kilometres with narrow, glaciated valleys radiating from the central massif with their steep hillsides and slender lakes which exhibit an extraordinary beauty and harmony. An off grid van life paradise! Needless to say, it's a pretty special place to visit whether it's the pull of the rugged fells, sour milk ghylls and crystal clear lakes, the abundance of local fresh produce and microbreweries, or historic literary associations: you really don't have to go far from Bramble's pick-up point to be submerged in the best of what Cumbria and The Lake District has to offer. Popular outdoor pursuits include fell walking and running, climbing, bouldering, ghyll scrambling, wild-swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, mountain biking, road cycling, paragliding, caving, live music, ceilidh dancing, mountain festivals, meditation, yoga or simply exploring the historic area. Bramble’s owners will impart with local knowledge and provide any tips and tricks of things that are going on when you are in the area. What's cooking? - Bramble has a domestic-sized 2 ring gas hob and sink. There's all you need for cooking including; a whistling kettle, 3 pans, 1 frying pan, cutlery for four, 4 large plates, 4 side plates, 4 bowls, 4 camping mugs, 3 camping cups and camping wine glasses, wooden chopping board, small red chopping, 2 cork worktop protectors, 4 placemats, a colander, salad bowl, 3 varying sized sharp knives, vegetable peeler, corkscrew, tin opener, spatula, fish slice, serving spoon, dish draining board, washing bowl, environmentally friendly washing up liquid, kitchen cloths, 3 tea towels, fire extinguisher, small dustpan and brush. The waterworks - Water for the kitchen is drawn through the tap by an electric pump from two x 25-liter water containers that are stored securely in the garage area of the campervan. Water is heated using the whistling kettle on the gas hob. The water containers also supply a shower hose at the rear of the van for showering down things such as muddy boots, bikes, or even as a quick body rinse if off-grid. As with the kitchen water, heating the shower water would need to happen by using the whistling kettle. An additional solar camping shower is available for making things squeaky clean. There is a portable campervan toilet and pop-up tent is available on request, however, a £30.00 deposit is required for this to ensure it is returned empty and clean. < Music to my ears - In Bramble's cabin, there is a Bluetooth radio/audio system so you can play your own music as well as stay on the right track with its built-in sat-nav. Snug as a bug in a rug - Bramble has a fitted Planar diesel heater, keeping you snug all year round. The fuel is drawn from the van's fuel tank so no need to worry about topping up. A (WO)man’s best friend - Bramble's moto is that no dog is left behind however due to the compact size of the van, little dogs fit best. What's more? - Bramble has a slide-in side canopy that can be easily put up within a matter of minutes. Hammock and hammock hook from the rear of the campervan. Shower hose for freshening up out the rear of the van. Stealth mode as Bramble is anchorite grey in color and can fade away into the evening light for off-grid stealth pitching after dark. Optional extra’s available to hire include tilted towbar 3 bike bike-rack, Stand-Up-Paddleboard with medium-sized flotation aid, portable toilet with pop-up privacy tent. Looking for a space - If you are driving to collect Bramble then you are welcome to park your car on the drive of Bramble's owner in a quiet residential street. If you come by train, Bramble's owners may be able to pick you up from Oxenholme or Kendal station by pre-arrangement only. A short history - Bramble's owners first rented a Quirky Camper back in 2019 and fell in love with the freedom and spontaneity of off-grid van life and exploring our amazing outdoors. The fun and freedom of chasing blue skies and searching for hidden gems and sandy beaches led to the dream come true that is Bramble. Bramble offers the freedom to explore the great outdoors and a place to eat, sleep and repeat after a good day on the fells, shredding up the trails or waterfall dipping. Bramble's owners can offer a local's guide to off-grid van life in the lakes and point you in the direction of the best microbreweries and plant-based eateries.
