The van was very basic and a bit battered & grubby. The van is small which makes it easy to manoeuvre in town, we were very grateful for the AC and the battery powered lighting was nice. The radio didn't work and there where sharp screws poking into the storage boxes which made things difficult to get in and out without ripping our bags. The photo of the back of the van wasn't accurate, so the kitchen was not as expected, only camping stoves provided rather than the cooker shown in the photo, and the water wasn't filled. I probably wouldn't hire from this provider again.

Shes an older model but drives fine. We went from Edinburgh to Skye via Tarbert ferry and Ben Nevis and she did well on the windy roads. Kitchen had everything we needed. All good and no worries!

Do NOT hire a van from Jo.. He/she were rude..very poor communication skills and when you ask a question you get scolded like a naughty schoolboy. The van had EVERY panel and corner with damage of some sort. It did drive OK. The rear tailgate had about an inch..25mm..gap so it would have been easy for anybody to break in.. So we never felt safe and of course couldn't leave anything valuable in the van. Jo will ask you.. and berate you if you don't..to use WhattsApp.. against CAMPLIFY rules..to communicate. This allows him/her to add extra costs outside of CAMPLIFY. For example..charges an extra GBP20 to make the bed for a late pickup..This was never done..in fact the table was still up and so we had to organize the van. Jo has 45 vans and is using CAMPLIFY as free advertising their business.. against the concept of CAMPLIFY..which is for individual owners to get some income for the months that their van is not being used. Jo has even tried to cover their tracks by deleting 2pages of WhattsApp because..rude and offensive response. I am in the process of letting CAMPLIFY know above.. Bottom line is..... DO NOT hire from Jo

No frills van. The onsite cabin was filled with teas, coffees, water etc but forget about it if you expect any of that to be in the van. There was no added useful things that would make the van ready to go such as oil for cooking, tea towels, bags for rubbish etc. One of the side doors was so difficult to open that we just stopped using it. Jo very much lacked any enthusiasm for his job.

We had a wonderful journey with the van Dasha. Very easy to drive, fully equipped, a lot of pockets everywhere. We went from Edinburgh to Inverness, Skye and other beautiful places. Jo was very reactive to our messages and his team was very reassuring with us. I advise you to download park4night to find great places to spend the night on your journey.

We do not recommend to rent with «ontourcampervans». We rented the van named «Brodach» for 40 days. On our first night, the heater wasnt working. We sent a message to the owner and he told us to try to fix it. We had to tinker with the heater but even after following all the instructions, the heater wasnt working. So we went back to Edinburgh to swap the van. The second van «Toki» was given to us very quickly without any form of apology. It was nearly out of gas, was not clean, we even found dirty clothes in it and on top of that we had serious brake problems directly from the start. When we figured out that the van has mechanical problems we had to stop and wait for a garage to handle the issue. The mechanic told the owner that the brake had to be fully replaced but he refused. He told the mechanic to only swap one part of it. The mechanic told us that it was dangerous and wrote this on the bill: « Strongly advised front discs and seized caliper were replaced. Owner declined and stated to fit front brake pads only. No warranty with repair. Seized caliper should be replaced » Once again the owner didnt apologize for the time we lost and the issues. Because of the «quick fix », the brake problem came up once more and we had to stop again and to wait for the van to be swapped. The third « Max » van came up not really clean either, with dirty sink and even old condom wrapper under the bed. We lost 3 full days handling all the problems, and the owner, never ever apologized. His communication skill is awful, often doubting your issues and sending barely readable texts. The three vans we had havent been in top shapes and were not well cleaned. As very experienced travelers, we rented lots of things abroad, this is by far our worst experience. Sure go to Scotland, it is breathtaking, just pick another company. Have a safe travel.

Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with and Jo Lowe th supplier even worse dont even think of booking with them they ignore safety regulations and right now I have got HSE involved as the Campervans are dangerous
