My son and I hired James's Defender (Susan) for a long weekend camping in the Yorkshire and Dales and Lake District. Susan is a classic Range Rover in absolute mint condition, she was spotlessly clean and incredibly fun to drive. Driving her on small country roads was great as the power steering made it easy to get around tight corners and on the motorway she cruised at an easy 70. The Defender comes with everything you need for camping from cooking equipment, table and chairs, cool box etc... James even provided head torches, phone charging equipment and tea and fresh coffee which was a brilliant touch. We didn't use everything but you could easily take Susan for a week or more in any season with all the gear it has. Susan comes with a spacious roof tent which was a first for us for camping. After a quick 10-minute session with James during the handover we set up and put away the tent on the roof. It is straightforward to set up by removing the cover, unclipping parts of it and folding it out with the ladder. Inside is a thick mattress so you fold it out, put on a cover sheet and chuck in your sleeping bags and pillows. Easy! I've never been camping where the drive was as much fun as the actual camping and my son now wants me to sell our Citreon and buy a classic Defender. I don't have any negative points at all, James was super friendly and took his time to show us around the Defender so we knew exactly how to use it and where everything was. Dropping off was easy too, we just unloaded our gear, went through some basic checks with James and were on our way with big smiles on our faces. I will be hiring again and recommend this to anyone wanting a unique camping experience with minimal fuss as all the gear is provided. I guarantee you'll want to take Susan home.
