Camplify is the UK's largest community of campervan owners hiring out their own vans. That means more choice in more places, real vans with real reviews, and an owner who actually knows the van and the route you are heading down.
Browse compact two-berth campervans through to roomier models, from Cornwall and the Lake District up to the Scottish Highlands. Filter by your pickup town and your dates and book the one that fits in a few minutes.
A standard UK car licence (category B) covers most campervans, which sit under 3.5 tonnes. You only need a C1 licence for the heaviest motorhomes. Visiting from overseas? An English-language licence or an International Driving Permit is accepted, subject to the owner's check.
Every Camplify booking includes insurance as standard, with roadside assistance behind you if something goes wrong on the road. A refundable security deposit is shown on the booking summary before you pay, so there are no surprises.
Owners set their own daily rate, so prices vary by van, season and location. What you see on the booking screen is what you pay.
Live listings of campervans across the UK, from compact two-berth vans to roomier models with a proper kitchen and bed. Browse the full range with the campervan filter.

Five days, two of you, and the whole of the Scottish Highlands to wander through. Glencoe to Skye to Torridon, stopping wherever the view earns it. A two-berth campervan turns the drive into the holiday.

A weekend by the coast
Cornwall, the Pembrokeshire coast or a Lake District fell, on a long weekend that starts whenever you finish work on Friday. Pick up a van near home, point it west, and wake up by the water.
)
A campervan turns the drive into the holiday. You wake up where you parked, make a brew with the side door open to the view, and decide over breakfast whether to move on or stay another night. Most Camplify campervan trips in the UK run a long weekend or a working week, and the best ones rarely go to plan.
Scotland is the trip people come back for. Wild camping is legal there under the Land Reform Act, so a self-sufficient van lets you pull up by a loch and have the place to yourselves; the most-recommended Highland loop runs Glasgow to Glencoe to Skye to Torridon and back through Inverness. In England and Wales you book a pitch, and a campsite with a hot shower and a hookup is rarely far. For two people and a dog, that mix is the sweet spot.

The campervans on Camplify belong to people who travel in them themselves, so a pickup often comes with more than the keys. The quiet beach a short walk past the famous one. The single-track passing places worth knowing on the way to Skye. The campsite that takes dogs without a fuss, and the lay-by with the view to aim for at sunset. Plenty of owners will happily share the spots they come back to year after year.
Their vans are built for real trips, too. Many run solar that keeps the fridge and the lights going, so you can stay self-sufficient for a night between sites. Message the owner on the Camplify app with your dates and ask where they would go; the answer comes from someone who has parked that exact van at that exact loch.
Find a campervan and message the ownerWhat licence do I need for campervan hire in the UK?
A standard UK car licence (category B) covers most campervans on Camplify, as the majority sit under 3.5 tonnes. You only need a C1 licence for the heaviest motorhomes, and each listing makes clear which it requires. Visiting from overseas? A full English-language licence, or your licence plus an International Driving Permit, is generally accepted, subject to the owner's verification.
How old do I need to be to hire a campervan?
Insurance minimums vary by owner. Many require drivers to be 25 or over, while plenty accept drivers aged 21 to 24, often with a small added excess. Owners typically run a quick DVLA check and ask for a clean licence held for at least a couple of years with no recent at-fault claims. Each listing shows the owner's terms, and you can add a named driver before you book.
What insurance comes with the campervan?
Every Camplify booking includes insurance as standard, with roadside assistance if something goes wrong on the road. A refundable security deposit, usually around £1,000, is shown on the booking summary before you pay and is only drawn on in the event of damage. Additional drivers are added through the platform so they are covered too.
How much does it cost to hire a campervan?
Owners set their own daily rate, so prices vary by van, season and location. The booking screen always shows the full total before you pay.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, and most people do. More than 1,700 of the campervans on Camplify welcome dogs; filter by dog-friendly campervans to see them. Each listing sets its own rules, such as dogs off the beds or out of the cab, so read those before you book. Our dog-friendly campervan hire guide covers what to pack and where to go.
How many miles can I drive, and is there a limit?
Mileage is owner-set. Some listings include unlimited miles, others give a daily allowance with a small charge per mile over it, which suits shorter local trips. If you are planning a long Scotland loop, check the mileage terms on the listing or message the owner before you book so there are no surprises.
Will I be charged in a clean air zone like ULEZ?
Some cities run clean air or low emission zones (ULEZ in London, plus zones in Bath, Bristol, Birmingham and Glasgow) where an older diesel van may incur a daily charge. Most UK campervan trips head for the coast and countryside rather than city centres, but if your route passes through one, check the van's emissions rating with the owner first.
Where can I park or camp overnight?
In Scotland, wild camping is legal under the Land Reform Act, so a self-sufficient van can pull up responsibly by a loch or in the hills. In England and Wales you book a pitch, and campsites with hookups and showers are rarely far. Owners often know the best sites on their patch, and our Scotland campervan itinerary maps out where to stay on the classic Highland route.
How does campervan hire on Camplify actually work?
Search campervan hire by your pickup town and dates, send the owner an enquiry or request to book, and pay a deposit to confirm. You meet the owner at pickup for a quick handover and licence check, then the van is yours for the trip. Everything, including messages and the cancellation policy, runs through the Camplify app.
It is our first campervan trip. Where should we start?
Our first-time campervan and motorhome hire guide walks through the basics, from picking up the van to where you can stay. A two-berth van and a short loop close to your pickup town is the easiest way to find your feet before a bigger Scotland trip.
