Stay in the heart of the stunning Glencoe region at family-run Red Squirrel Campsite a couple of minutes’ walk from Glencoe Visitor Centre. Swim in the River Coe alongside the site or hike the Lost Valley Trail only a mile away, then snuggle up by a blazing fire pit.

The Scottish Borders is possibly the easiest region in Scotland to access, with Edinburgh to the north, Northumberland to the south and Dumfries & Galloway to the west. If driving from England, make sure to take the A68 - you’ll discover incredible views when crossing the border.

Directions: Drive approx. 45 miles south-east from Edinburgh via the A68. If coming from England/the south, the park is about 65 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne – reach Jedburgh via the A696, joining the A68; and 55 miles via the A7 from Carlisle.

A family-run and award-winning site on a working farm, Resipole is set among awesome scenery on the shores of Loch Sunart. The Ardnamurchan peninsula is perfect for walking trails, nature spotting, fishing and boating. Fishing is also available on site.

Directions: Drive west from Fort William (31 miles), via the A82 and A861.

This woodland park 10 minutes’ drive from Aberdeen was named Best Holiday Park in Scotland in 2019 and a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice in 2020. Among the many facilities are heated washblocks, a barbecue area and an indoor playroom.

Of course, you could also take advantage of Scotland’s liberal wild camping laws and look for a free campervan spot on your trip. Unlike the rest of the UK, wild camping is legal in most areas of Scotland; this refers to backpacking/tent camping, but you’re unlikely to be bothered if you park up discreetly, leave early the next morning and move on if requested.
