Boomtown 2026: Your Campervan & Motorhome Guide to the UK's Most Immersive Festival
)
Festival Dates: 12–16 August 2026
Location: Matterley Estate, South Downs National Park, near Winchester, Hampshire
There is no festival in the UK quite like Boomtown. Other festivals have stages. Boomtown has a city. An entire fictional metropolis built from scratch on 1,250 acres of Hampshire farmland — with 12 main stages, over 80 hidden venues tucked inside themed districts, thousands of performers, and a storyline that evolves across the five days. It's not a festival you attend. It's a world you inhabit.
For 2026, Chapter Five: Radical Redesign — the line-up includes Skrillex, Faithless, Madness, Four Tet, Scissor Sisters, Groove Armada, Shy FX, Floating Points, Princess Nokia, and hundreds more across every genre imaginable. Boomtown has already sold out for 2026, but resale tickets remain available — and if you're planning for 2027, start here.
Why Boomtown is a Five-Day Experience
Most festivals are three or four days. Boomtown runs Wednesday to Sunday, a five full days! That's not just extra time; it's a fundamentally different kind of festival. Boomtown is designed to be explored, and with 14 themed districts, dozens of stages and streets, hidden bars, interactive characters and unexpected performances at every turn, five days is genuinely not enough.
A campervan, motorhome or caravan is the natural base for this kind of trip. You need somewhere to decompress, recharge, sleep properly and come back ready for another day. Boomtown's campsite is large and well-established. Return to the van, make a coffee, and head straight back in.
The Boomtown Campervan Experience
Boomtown's campervan and motorhome camping area is separate from the main festival site, with dedicated access routes. The festival's cashless RFID wristband system means you won't be carrying cash or cards around the site — set it up in advance through your festival account.
Key practical points:
Boomtown is 18+ only. Everyone in your group — including campervan passengers — must be 18 or over. ID is required on entry.
Vehicle camping passes are sold separately from festival tickets and have a limited allocation. For 2027, watch the Boomtown website closely from the moment tickets launch.
The site is at Matterley Estate in the South Downs National Park — the terrain is hilly in places. Standard campervans and motorhomes navigate it fine, but check any large vehicle's clearance.
Boomtown is largely off-grid. A well-charged leisure battery, full water tank and enough gas will see you through five days comfortably.

The Line-Up Philosophy
Boomtown's music policy is genuinely unlike any other UK festival. Rather than booking a handful of globally famous headliners and building downwards, Boomtown curates its city district by district — each with its own sound, identity and community. You might find drum and bass in one street, reggae in the next, then wander into an underground techno cave, then stumble upon a ska band playing in a fake post office.
For 2026, the line-up spans Skrillex and Faithless at the larger end, through to hundreds of artists you may never have heard of — and who will become firm favourites by the time you leave. Boomtown's alumni roster reads like a who's who of artists who went on to much bigger things.
Getting There: Hampshire and Beyond
Matterley Estate is just outside Winchester in Hampshire — well connected from most of the UK. The M3 brings you down from London and the Midlands; the M27 connects from the west.
If you're making it a road trip with a few days either side:
Winchester itself is one of England's finest historic cities — the Cathedral, the Great Hall, the water meadows. A brilliant arrival day before the festival.
The New Forest is 20 minutes south — ancient woodland, wild ponies, and excellent cycling routes.
Dorset's Jurassic Coast is an hour west — fossil beaches, dramatic cliffs, and the best fish and chips in England.
Portsmouth is 30 minutes south — great for a post-festival day exploring the Historic Dockyard and seeing HMS Victory.
Boomtown 2026 is sold out, but resale tickets are available at boomtownfair.co.uk. For 2027, search Camplify for Festival Ready vans near Winchester, Hampshire — and be ready to book the moment Chapter Six launches.
