Campervans at Reading & Leeds Festival 2026: Everything You Need to Know
)
Festival Dates: 27–30 August 2026 (Bank Holiday weekend)
With Glastonbury on its 2026 fallow year, Reading & Leeds steps up as the undisputed headline act of the UK's festival summer. This year's line-up leans hard into British and Irish talent — it's the first time in 25 years that all of R&L's headliners have come from the UK and Ireland.
Charli XCX and Fontaines D.C. won't be playing any other UK festivals this year, and Chase & Status are doing their only live show here. Pair that with Dave, Florence + The Machine, and Raye, and you've got arguably the strongest R&L line-up in a decade.
Here's the van hirer's guide to making the most of it.
Reading or Leeds — Which One?
Both festivals run the same dates over the August bank holiday weekend and share the same headline acts. The main differences are:
Reading is in Berkshire — easy access from London and the South. Bramham Park in Leeds is in West Yorkshire, better placed for Midlands and Northern hirers.
Leeds only: Kasabian headline the Thursday — the first ever main stage Thursday headliner in the festival's history. If you're a fan, Leeds is the call.
The atmosphere and vibe are similar, but many festival veterans say Leeds has a slightly more Northern-warm crowd energy.
Whichever you choose, the campervan logistics are comparable — both sites have established vehicle camping areas.
Campervan Access and Passes
Reading and Leeds Festival offer both camping and non-camping weekend tickets. Campervan hirers will need:
A weekend ticket with camping included — this gives access to the campsites from Thursday 27 August.
A vehicle pass — check the festival website for campervan and motorhome specific passes and book early.
Reading campsite access runs from Thursday 27 August, with the option to arrive Wednesday with an Early Entry pass. Leeds follows similar timings. This flexibility is one of the great advantages of a campervan — you can arrive early, claim a great pitch, and be set up before the music even starts.

Why a Campervan Wins at R&L
Reading & Leeds has a well-earned reputation as a rite of passage. But the standard camping experience — carrying a tent through crowds, sleeping on hard ground, communal showers — is exactly what a campervan eliminates. You get all the atmosphere and none of the misery.
The bank holiday timing also means the weather is unpredictable. A campervan is waterproof, warm, and yours for the weekend. It's a particularly good choice for groups — four people in a larger motorhome is significantly more comfortable and often cheaper per person than four individual camping setups.
Finding Your Van
Search on Camplify by Reading or Leeds as your pickup location. Look for Festival Ready listings — these are vans whose owners have been identified as particularly welcoming of festival bookings. Message the owner with your festival details before booking to confirm everything suits.
Book as early as possible. August bank holiday is one of the most popular booking dates of the year on Camplify.
Check van size against the festival's campervan area guidelines — some sites have height or length restrictions.
Ask whether the owner is happy for you to bring festival mud back into the van. Most festival-experienced owners are fine with this but appreciate being asked.
