Getting There

Castle Donington is in the East Midlands, just off the M1. It's well connected from most of the UK — roughly two hours from London, an hour from Birmingham, and 90 minutes from Manchester. The surrounding area includes the Peak District to the north and Leicester to the south, both worth a detour.

Campervan Camping Passes

As with all large UK festivals, you'll need a vehicle camping pass in addition to your entry ticket. These are sold separately by the festival and have their own allocation — check the Download website and book your vehicle pass as soon as they go on sale.

After the Festival: Peak District

Donington Park is on the southern edge of the Peak District. If you have the van for a few extra days after Download, the Peak District is one of the best places in England to take a campervan:

• Dovedale — dramatic limestone gorge with stepping stones

• Chatsworth House — one of England's greatest stately homes, set in stunning parkland

• Mam Tor — short hike with sweeping views over the Hope Valley

• Buxton — elegant spa town with good food and independent shops
