1. Luss Caravan & Camp Site

Loch Lomond campsites don’t come much better than this. Luss Caravan & Camp Site is right on the edge of Loch Lomond, with pitches by the water and spectacular views over the loch. It’s in the village of Luss, a haven and stopover for over a century for travellers reaching the western shores of Loch Lomond: this is a perfect place to stop and rest.

Now run by the Camping and Caravan Club of Great Britain, the caravan park has 90 pitches, half of which are hardstanding and with electric hook-up. Its western shore setting is ideal too, by Loch Lomond Golf Club and only a 20-minute drive from Dumbarton.

2. Cashel Campsite

Loch Lomond campsites don’t come much better than this either! On the eastern shore of the loch, Cashel Campsite is a Camping in the Forest park with direct access to the water: launch a boat straight from the site or hire a craft nearby, to get out onto these tranquil waters and explore the loch's many islands. Its stunning views take in the loch itself, Luss to the west, mountains either side and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park all around.

With 168 pitches, you’ll be sure to find a place to park up, and amenities are plentiful too, including showers, toilets and electric hook-ups. Pets are welcome.

3. Lomond Woods Holiday Park

How about five-star and on the south of the loch for the next of our Loch Lomond campsites? Lomond Woods Holiday Park is an award-winning campsite that’s open all year. It is located on the southern edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park half a mile from Balloch train station.

The setting here is sublime, only half a mile from Loch Lomond shores, loch cruises and the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre, and two minutes’ walk from two pubs serving food. The site’s made up of pretty, landscaped grounds and includes a dog walking area, playground and games room. Barbecues are allowed.

As above, Loch Lomond campsites are pretty spectacular. But how about one with its own private beach? Back on Lomond’s western shore, Loch Lomond Holiday Park has a small sandy beach exclusively for guests’ use, alongside a private jetty for launching boats and jetskis.

Fishing is available and hiking trails lead directly from the grounds. The park is family- and dog-friendly, and open all year.

Under a mile’s walk from the southern shore of the loch, the last of our Loch Lomond campsites is family-run Lagganbeg Caravan Park. This campsite is a 10 minutes’ drive from Balloch Castle & Country Park.

As well as the loch, there’s easy access from here to birdwatching at RSPB Scotland Loch Lomond (15 minutes’ walk), golf at Buchanan Castle Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive) and cycling and walking paths around Loch Lomond.
