One of the most famous Norfolk attractions is the Broads, the East Anglian waterways that make up Britain's largest protected wetland. Combine a Broads trip with a pub campsite at Reedham Ferry Touring and Camping Park by Reedham Ferry, the last working chain ferry in the east of England and providing the only river crossing between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. The park has its own fishing lake and River Yare angling right from the site.

With over 250 pitches, you’re sure to find one that suits – and at £15 per night for unlimited people per pitch the price is pretty attractive too. This is the place if you want to leave your wheels on site, as a local bus service operates from the park right to King's Lynn.

4. Wells-next-the-Sea – Grove Farm Campsite

Great Yarmouth is a top spot for a seaside holiday, but you can’t come to Norfolk without seeing its north coast too. Grove Farm Campsite is just the place to explore this part of the county, including the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Cromer and Hunstanton.

This lovely little site is on a working farm, only two miles from the laid back seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea where seals sometimes bask around the harbour. It’s brilliantly placed for Norfolk exploring as a whole too, with famous Holkham Hall and Holkham National Nature Reserve four miles away and more seals to be seen at Blakeney Point eight miles from the farm.

[NB: not to be confused withGrove Farm at Thetford, also in East Anglia – although as it’s close to stunning Thetford Forest, you might want to give this one a look too.]

5. Heacham/Hunstanton – Hunstanton Camping and Glamping

Once you’re on this part of Norfolk coast, it’s a must to park up for a few nights at Hunstanton too. Stay at Hunstanton Camping and Glamping for an almost-wild feel among fields and by the coast – nearby Heacham South Beach is reachable by foot in a few minutes from the campsite. This is easily one of our favourite motorhome campsites in Norfolk.

You can leave your motorhome on site throughout your whole stay here, as Heacham town is under a mile away and the National Forest Snettisham Woods is 1.5 miles inland. Take the No 35 bus towards King’s Lynn to get to Sandringham Estate (six miles), one of the UK estates of the British royal family.

  • Quiet countryside location, one of only a handful of campsites on Norfolk’s western coast

  • Walking haven: take the public footpath to Snettisham or walk to Hunstanton along the promenade

6. Norwich – Norwich Camping and Caravanning Club Site

The much-acclaimed Camping and Caravanning Club has several parks in Norfolk, including this peaceful green park close to county capital Norwich. Described by the Club as “a city campsite with a rural feel”, it’s secluded, quiet and well laid out in a riverside setting, with grass pitches and well maintained facilities.

Norwich city centre is only a mile and half away: walk or cycle there along the old railway line, or take the bus which stops a quarter of a mile from the site. More walking and cycling is easily accessible in Whitlingham Country Park (1.5 miles), which also has a watersports centre.

  • Secluded, peaceful riverside site 1.5 miles from Norwich

Its peaceful setting on the outskirts of Erpingham village is edged by the wildlife haven Thwaite Common and close to cycling and walking on both the Weaver’s Way and Marriot’s Way. The campsite includes 35 pitches, both grass and hardstanding.
