Don't take the bait: Our guide to phishing & spam
)
As your partner, your success and security are our top priorities. Part of our commitment to you is providing the tools and knowledge to operate safely online.
We've put together this guide to help you stay secure, understand how our platform works, and confidently manage your communications with hirers.
The Camplify 'Golden Rule' for payments
This is the most important piece of information for protecting your account:
Camplify will NEVER ask you to process, receive, or verify a payment by clicking a link in the messaging portal.
All your booking details, earnings, and payout information are handled securely and exclusively within your official Camplify dashboard. Any legitimate payment notifications will direct you to log in to your dashboard, never to an external link sent in a message.
How to be a secure owner
Scammers and phishers are common in any online marketplace, and their tactics are often similar. Being able to spot the red flags is the best way to protect yourself.
Here’s what to look out for in any message:
Pressure to click a link: Be cautious of any message—especially from a new or unknown "hirer"—that provides a link to "fix a payment issue," "verify your account," or "receive your money."
A sense of urgency: Scammers often try to create panic. They use phrases like "Your account will be suspended" or "Click immediately to avoid cancellation" to rush you into making a mistake.
Requests for personal details: We will never ask you for your password, full bank details, or other sensitive personal information within a message.
Suspicious-looking links: Before ever clicking a link, check it. Does it look official? Scammers often create links that look almost right (e.g., "https://www.google.com/search?q=camplify-payments.com" or "secure-camplify.net"). A legitimate Camplify link will always be on our official domain.
What to do if a message feels "off"
Trust your instincts. If a message seems suspicious, even if you're not sure why, follow these steps:
Don't click, don't reply: The safest action is to not engage. Never click links or download attachments from a sender you don't trust.
Report the message: Please use the "Report User" function . This immediately flags the user for our team to investigate. This is the best way you can help us protect the whole community.
Contact us directly: If you're ever unsure about a booking or a message, please log in to your dashboard and contact the official Camplify Support team. We are always happy to verify a hirer or a booking for you.

Other useful security tips
In addition to understanding the signs of phishing, incorporating general security best practices into your daily online habits provides a robust defense against various cyber threats.
The power of strong passwords: Your first line of defence
In the fight against phishing and other cyber threats, your passwords are your most fundamental line of defence. A strong, complex password acts as a robust lock on your digital accounts, making it significantly harder for malicious actors to gain unauthorised access.
Crafting complex passwords: When creating passwords, think beyond easily guessable combinations. Aim for a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (like !, @, #, $, %, etc.). The longer and more random your password, the stronger it will be. Consider using passphrases – a string of unrelated words – which can be long and complex, yet easier for you to remember. For example, instead of "Password123", try "BlueChairJumpsOverHappySun!"
The Golden Rule: Never reuse passwords: Perhaps one of the most critical rules in online security is to never reuse passwords across different accounts. This is especially important for your personal email and any sensitive service like Camplify. Imagine a scenario where a phishing attack successfully compromises one of your less important accounts (e.g., a forum or an old shopping site). If you've used the same password for that account as you have for your personal email or Camplify, the attackers now have the key to multiple critical parts of your digital life. They can then use these credentials to access your email, reset other passwords, or even gain control of your Camplify account, leading to significant financial or personal data loss.
Using unique, complex passwords for each of your online accounts is a crucial step in building your digital armour against cyber scams. Consider using a reputable password manager to help you generate and securely store these unique credentials.
