Yorkshire Dales family holidays: castles & adventures
)
**Yorkshire Dales is probably one of the UK family's favourite destinations.
Its towering castles, historic abbeys, and breathtaking scenery make Yorkshire Dales an incredible adventure for children and a stunning destination for their parents.**
If you want to immerse yourselves in this beautiful land the best way is hiring a family motorhome or campervan (although a caravan would work too). That way you can get deeper into the forests and dreamland landscapes of Yorkshire Dales. Don't worry if you don't have your own, with Camplify you can just find a van near your home or pick one at your destination.
But what you are probably asking yourself is what destinations and activities will you find to keep your kids entertained. Well, we have you covered. We've put together a shortlist of family-friendly destinations for you to add to your itinerary.
The Forbidden Corner
_

_The Forbidden Corner is regularly referred to as a 'magical place’, but the best magic trick of all is its ability to not only appeal to children but to adults too!
Tucked away in the gardens of Tupgill Park, the Forbidden Corner is filled with secret doors and passageways, it is almost like a maze.
As you make your way through you'll find underground rooms, tunnels leading to tiny doors and possibly a surprise or two in the form of moving statues. Make sure you don't miss out by booking ahead. Numbers are strictly limited, so calling ahead is essential. Embsay Railway _

_ All year round, Embsay Railway is the perfect child-friendly activity!
Departing from the original Bolton Abbey station, the Embsay Railway runs through some of the UK's most beautiful scenery in the Dales.
In late July through until September, the railway displays their Stately Trains Collection. The collection includes a carriage that is rumoured to have been used by the daughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Alice.
After hopping off the railway, you can walk to Bolton Abbey. There is so much to do, but we'll cover that a bit later on. White Scar Cave _

_Looking to try a different family adventure? White Scar Cave has an 80 minute guided tour. It takes you through the longest underground cave in the national park and immerses you in stunning rock formations and subterranean caverns.
White Scar Cave isn’t the only cave in the Yorkshire Dales but it by far is the most spectacular. Along the tour, you'll find stone statues that have been naturally formed over time and breathtaking underground waterfalls.
It should be noted that White Scar Cave isn't accessible to anything with wheels , e.g. a pram or wheelchair, and you will need footwear that you can walk in for a while. The floor is a combination of metal sheeting and rock, so you'll want to make sure your shoes are comfortable. Year-round, the cave always sits around 8 degrees so be sure to pack a jumper!
Bolton Abbey, Skipton ****
_

_Whether you want to explore ruins , take a walk in nature or stroll beside a river, Bolton Abbey has so many options that you'll need an entire day to explore it with your family.
Where should you start on your day at Bolton Abbey? Definitely start at the Priory Church and ruins. Nestled beside the River Wharfe, the Priory Church has a rich history. It is the perfect place to begin your discovery of Bolton Abbey.
Next, head north to Bolton Abbey's sandy beach. The kids will love hopping, skipping and jumping across the stepping stones -although there is a bridge for those who don't want to risk getting wet. The beach is the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic, have a swim or build a sandcastle.
There is so much more to discover at Bolton Abbey. From the Valley of Desolation, Aqueduct and The Money Tree. But we don't want to give too much away! Pick up a motorhome and take the family on a road trip they won't soon forget. Hesketh Farm Park _

_With over 1,000 sheep and cattle, Hesketh is a unique experience that your kids will love!
This busy working farm lets you get up close with baby farm animals. The kids will enjoy petting and feeding the animals, riding a tractor and wandering the paddocks. There might even be an opportunity for them to collect eggs from the chicken coop!
There is more on offer than just animals on the farm. Drop the kids off at the giant sandpit or take them on a journey through the straw maze. Whatever activities you and your family enjoy, there is something for you to do at Hesketh Farm. So many activities to choose from _

_You're spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a scenic route for a walk or a bike ride. Hire a bike and take a family ride along the quiet countryside, or visit another cave at Stump Cross or Ingleborough.
If your family is a bit more adventurous, you can try climbing or abseiling caves. Just be sure to book atYorkshire Dales Guides or Alfresco Adventures.
On the other hand, if your family prefers to take things slow, you can check out the Dales Countryside Museum then take a walk through the woods or along one of the beautiful rivers.
