Gearing up for warmer weather? Hey, we’re as excited as you are to welcome the sunshine into our lives. That’s why we’re sharing a few of our most favouritest, sunshiniest adventures taken by the Camplify community in recent times. Hopefully they’ll inspire you to get outside and soak up the good vibes, be it close to home – hello, Cornwall – or further afield in Spain, Australia or New Zealand.

Getting tropical in Far North Queensland, Australia

The winter months in the Southern hemisphere are actually the best time to visit Australia’s tropical north, with Queensland’s far north coast enjoying average temperatures in the mid-20s and far less humidity than in the wet season, which happens through the summer. This presents a prime opportunity to see iconic sights like the Daintree Rainforest and Great Barrier Reef without dissolving into a sweaty mess every time you walk outside.

Tiffany and Maddi hit the road last year to spend some time exploring Far North Queensland towing a Jayco trailer. ‘We drove from the Gold Coast to Brisbane to pick up the trailer, then up to Cairns over a couple of days,’ Tiffany told us, having returned from the tropical trip.

‘We consider ourselves waterfall queens, so we hiked to all the beautiful spots along the way before arriving at Mission Beach. From Mission, we drove south to Townsville and Airlie Beach for a fishing trip. We then caught sunrise at Cape Hillsborough, just north of Mackay, and checked out Byfields National Park in Rockhampton.’

Cruising Cornwall’s coast, United Kingdom

There’s just something about the UK in the summertime; a vibe, it truly is. Especially when you get out of town for a camping trip along the Cornish coast. That’s exactly what Keiran Hammond did last year, taking full advantage of the warmer weather – albeit while wearing a fleece and beanie, because c’mon, this is England – during a surfing trip. With a hammock strung between two Land Rover Defenders, he and his crew had an epic set up to catch some waves as well as the sunset. Don’t surf? That’s fine too – Cornwall has plenty of hiking trails, coasteering opportunities and almost too many tiny towns worth exploring.

Surf’s up in San Sebastian, Spain

Dreaming of sun, surf and sangria? Then you best be following in the footsteps of Shaanti Senaratne and ticking San Sebastian off your bucket list. This buzzing surf town, on the northern coast of Spain’s mountainous Basque Country, knows how to do summer. Playa de la Concha sizzles through the warmer months, and once you’re done with a swim, you can join the packs of people spilling out of pintxos (tapas) bars with a cold Estrella beer or Spanish wine in hand. Zurriola Beach is the prime place to catch a wave or two, but if you, like Shaanti, are rolling in a van, you’ll be all set to explore further afield and find a secret break of your own.

Salty adventures across the North and South islands, New Zealand

Zac White is a photographer, videographer and all-round legend from Western Australia. In October last year, he spent a couple of weeks campervanning through New Zealand’s North and South islands, checking out the surf, snow and trails for which the Land of the Long White Cloud is so famous. ‘It was absolutely insane,’ he said. ‘I don’t think there’s a country I can compare New Zealand to…it felt like we were stopping every 15 minutes to pull over and take photos.’

If you’re feeling a New Zealand adventure but aren’t too keen on the cold, we recommend driving north of Auckland to the Bay of Islands, which enjoys a mild winter. The town of Russell is fun to explore, as is Cape Reinga, at the very top of the North Island. Fingers crossed it’s still warm enough for a swim!
