Swap runways for highways: avoid holiday travel chaos
)
With two weeks of Easter holidays on the horizon, and strikes scheduled at Heathrow Airport, this may well be the perfect moment to holiday closer to home. Over 1,400 security staff at Heathrow have voted to strike between March 31 and April 9, with significant impacts – potentially chaos – predicted. All sounding like a bit of a drag? We couldn’t agree more.
Ditch the delays by hiring a campervan or caravan
Recently released data from the Civil Aviation Authority has shown that in 2022, 37 per cent of flights in and out of UK airports were at least 15 minutes late. And have you forgotten what happened last Easter? Nightmare queues at the airport; the Eurostar at a standstill; cancellations from Gatwick to Glasgow.
Hire a campervan, however, and the delays will be down to your procrastination alone. And instead of packing and unpacking, jamming onto the tube, queueing to check in, shuffling through security and waiting out delays, you’ll simply go through a handover with the campervan’s owner and throw your bulging bag – there are no weight restrictions here – in the back before setting off.
