1. St Davids – Pencarnan Farm Camping & Caravan Park
Pencarnan Farm, St Davids, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire SA62 6PY

Pencarnan Farm Caravan and Camping Site is in prime position for dog-friendly stays, set right above sandy Porthsele Beach on the Pembrokeshire coast in West Wales. The beach is dog friendly all year round. There’s easy access to other walks from the farm too, as the Pembrokeshire Coast Path/ Wales Celtic Trail runs around the Pencarnan headland.
Pencarnan Farm is a 96-acre dog-friendly and family-friendly camping and touring park, with a wide choice of pitches including campervan, motorhome and with electric hook-up. 2. Tenby/Saundersfoot – Carn Springs

Also in Pembrokeshire, peaceful and relaxed Carn Springs is set around a lake and wildlife haven under 10 miles from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Dog-friendly coastal walks are easy to get to from here, as the seaside resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot are both only 2.5 miles away. If you’re on holiday with the kids, “proudly dog friendly” Heatherton World of Adventures is within walking distance.

3. Snowdonia – Coed-Y-Llwyn Caravan Club Site

Another of Wales’s three national parks, Snowdonia is perfect for exploring with a dog in tow. Stay right in the middle of it all at Coed-Y-Llwyn Club Campsite, a Caravan and Motorhome Club campsite at Blaenau with access to walks in all directions. Or take one of the Snowdonia steam railways: the Ffestiniog Railway allows dogs and is accessible from Tan-y-bwlch station 3.5 miles away.

4. Conwy – Cefn Cae Camping Site

For dog stays in North Wales, stay at the small, family-run and award-winning Cefn Cae Camping Site, just 200 yards from a dog-friendly village pub. You and your dog will find walks all around here: at least 10 start direct from the campsite entrance and the site is on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Just make sure the one you pick is definitely dog-friendly before you set off!
The North Wales coast and walled town of Conwy is under five miles away. Even closer, Rowen village is within walking distance and dog-friendly Conwy Water Gardens is half a mile away. The campsite has a dog walk too.

5. Aberdovey – Nyth Robin

“Very dog friendly” Nyth Robin is in Mid Wales, on the Cardigan Bay coast and in Snowdonia National Park. Up to three dogs are allowed on each spacious motorhome or campervan pitch and all stay for free.
This small but popular campsite is a big hit for its friendly approach, beautiful, well-kept setting and surrounding gorgeous woodland that offers even more walks. The owners have put together a guide to nearbydog-friendly attractions, all vetted by the Nyth Robin dog Rustin – who especially recommends Aberdyfi Beach. This is easily one of our favourite dog-friendly campsites in Wales!

Like the country’s other national parks, the Brecon Beacons is a top spot for dog-friendly holidays in Wales. Explore the area then come back to a relaxing night’s stay at Cwmdu Campsite near the little town of Crickhowell… or set off from the campsite on one of its many walks. A stay here will also have you close to waterside walks at the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
Ask on site about the local walks: the knowledgeable team have graded these as easy, moderate or strenuous, so you can choose which is best for you and your pooch. To fuel up, stock up on fresh local produce at the campsite shop.

7. Anglesey – Bryn Ednyfed Caravan Site

With 125 miles of coastline, beautiful beaches and lots of peaceful countryside, the Isle of Anglesey is a first-rate location for dog-friendly holidays in Wales. Adults-only Bryn Ednyfed Caravan Site is our top pick if you’re camping with pets: not only is it near coastal walks among the stunning views of Holyhead, an RSPB reserve is next door for strolls. Amenities include a dog walk and dog wash to keep paws mud free.
If you want to leave your motorhome or campervan behind for the day, a bus stop is at the end of Bryn Ednyfed’s drive (dogs are allowed on buses in Wales at the discretion of the driver).

8. Wrexham – Clays Touring Park

Wrexham and the Wales/England border is another top region for pet-friendly holidays. Here, four-star, family-runClays Touring Park is ideal for dog-friendly camping. It’s four miles from the market town of Wrexham for access to walks around the Dee Valley and Clwydian Range, and has three country parks nearby.
The park sits in plenty of peaceful green space which includes an off-lead dog walk area.

9. Gower Peninsula – Nicholaston Farm Camping and Caravan Site

The owners at Nicholaston Farm Camping and Caravan Site know that dogs are part of the family, so welcome up to two dogs per reservation completely free of charge. As well as that, the friendly team can share details of all the dog-friendly beaches on the Gower Peninsula, local dog-friendly pubs, and info on public transport where dogs are allowed.
The campsite is perfectly placed for walks too, as it’s just one minute’s walk from Crowley Wood and 10 minutes’ stroll from Crawley and Oxwich beaches – both are dog friendly all year round. Plenty more walks around the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are close by.

Our final dog-friendly campsite in Wales is our third in Pembrokeshire - the lovely little Milford Haven campsite Eco Escape. On 40 acres of farmland just two miles from the centre of Milford Haven, it offers sustainable, off-grid, dog-friendly camping with plenty of space to sniff and run around in. Spacious pitches are in either the hay meadow or woodland glade – note these are only for small campervans, not motorhomes.
The team here are big dog lovers, so your best friend will be assured of a warm welcome. As well as miles of coastal and countryside walks nearby, Eco Escape scores highly on the dog-friendly camping list by having several woodland trails right on the doorstep.
